Back to School is here! College move-in day is right around the corner, so remember that the standard homeowners (renters) policy in a parent’s name extends 10% to the dorm for a student’s personal property. If a student has a lease for an off campus apartment, then a tenant policy is needed.

In today’s market, personal property is no longer just clothes and books, but electronics and phones too. These high dollar items are most often stolen. Even if it is in a locked car, auto insurance will not address personal items.  Which is why a renter/tenant policy is so important.

Not only does a renter/tenant policy cover personal property, but also personal liability for the guest that falls, etc. A student’s policy will not address roommates, each resident of the apartment/home should have a policy in their own name.

Don’t get caught with a gap in insurance protection. Request a free, no obligation quote online or call Beth Combs at 765.733.9058.
